Digi 002 Upgrade On It

What characteristics have motivated your choice I tried to use it to program my FCB, however the rack wouldnt recognize it.

Plus One January 0- I tend to stick to guitars and vocals, as well as rough demos for my band.

Other than the harness digidesign digi 002 with the earlier shipped units the quality as usual I find to be good.

The problem is well known see Forum Avid and others Avoid standby.

I would definitely say digidesign digi 002 your self one if you want to operate protools in your studio.

Hi, I have been offered a digi 002 mixer at a silly price but cannot find someone to give me a clear cut answer as to if it will work on my mac.

I am running the following: Mac G5 Dual 2gig 5Gb Ram OSX 10.5 The digi desk comes with PT 7.

I have also seen a digi 003 rack but I guess this would mean total mixing in the box I am just trying to record 16 live tracks to my mac.

Could any of you guys offer some saine advice guidance Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by mixing totally in the box with the 003, they have the same number of inputs and have the same routing capabilities.

Im not using the 002 with a Mac, but Im running a Windows XP laptop wonly 1G of RAM.

Ive never had an issue with CPU overload recording 8 ins at once, MIDI, and 24 tracks, nor any latency issues.

I just did an album at another studio running it with a MAC with no issue.

Id also recommend the mixer, as having the faders are going to be a godsend.

Digi 002 Upgrade On It

The 003 is nice and pretty, but I didnt see that much upgrade on it.

Theyre both using Firewire to connect, which is being phased out a lot on a ton of computers (Mac included).

I dont really see that much of a difference bw the 002 and 003 besides color scheme and slightly upgraded preamps on the four channels.

I am currently running pt8 on osx 10.5.8 with no problems.

I just traded my Logic rig for a 002R just a couple days ago.I bought the upgrade to 8 as my mac mini will only use 10.6.2, SO MUCH happier.I prefer rack gear to consoles due to the need for mobility.

The price point on both are good, but theese unit on ther stock configuration are not best sounding interface thats why I suggest the rack because it could be modifed by Black lion audio, either or they are great purchase if you are trying to move up to pro tools 8, another thing all 002 with serial number that end with A or B will suffer the power harness syptoms just make sure you get a transfer of ownership form and fax it to avid right away because they will ship you a new power harness in a few days.

To run on leopard you need 7.4.2 or above, if your version is below 7.4 then its a chargeable upgrade.

With the rack versions you can still use control surfaces, I use a bcf2000 with my 002r no worries.

Does anyone know if the digi 003 console is able to be connected to the digi 003 rack to essentially expand the inputs from 8 to 16.

No, it cant. But you can get one of the many 8 channel units to connect via adatlightpipe to expand it to 16 inputs.

You have use a different driver for the 002 which you can download.

One of the only things disappointing about the BLA modded 002 Im still using to this day is that standalone mode was ONLY available in the console version, so the rack version wont work as an expander.

Maybe they dropped standalone mode from the 003 console but the 002 console has it and will work as an ADAT expander (the 002r unfortunately not).
